Kylian Mbappe is one of the world’s best soccer or football players, leading France to second place in the most recent World Cup. While born in France, he is a fan of the NBA, even making trips to sit courtside to watch his favorite player play, LeBron James. In a recent interview with the NBA, Mbappe listed his top-five players in the NBA.

LeBron James – Los Angeles Lakers
To nobody’s surprise, Mbappe’s favorite player was the first he mentioned in the interview. James is widely viewed as a top-two player of all time, with many people having him first in their rankings. In his 20th season in the league, James is having as good a season as ever, averaging 29.1 PPG, 8.2 RPG, and 6.7 APG. The Lakers are currently on a particularly successful stretch and are looking to get back into the playoff picture. Come playoff time, James, with the help of Anthony Davis, could be looking to make a run for his fifth championship.
Kevin Durant – Brooklyn Nets
The next player on Mbappe’s list is the “Slim Reaper.” Durant is again having a fantastic season, leading the Eastern Conference in All-Star votes. The Nets are tied with the Nuggets and Grizzlies for the second-best record in the NBA. Durant has been a primary factor in their success thus far this season. He’s averaging 29.7 PPG, 6.7 RPG, and 5.3 APG through 39 games this season. Unfortunately, Durant suffered an MCL sprain in his right knee and will be re-evaluated in two weeks. This injury is believed to be less severe than his sprain last year, and the Nets will hope he can return shortly.
Giannis Antetokounmpo – Milwaukee Bucks
The Greek Freak is the first of two international players to make Mbappe’s list. The two-time MVP has continued his dominance in his eighth season in the league, leading the Bucks to the three seed while averaging 31.7 PPG, 11.8 RPG, and 5.2 APG. Milwaukee isn’t playing their best basketball currently; Antetokounmpo even compared it to a scene in Spongebob. They are still in a great position to finish with a high seed in the Eastern Conference and make a run for their second championship in three years.
Luka Doncic – Dallas Mavericks
Doncic is the second international player to make Mbappe’s list, and he’s more than deserving of the selection. Just last month, Doncic recorded one of the most remarkable stat lines in NBA history. It was the first 60/20/10 game in the history of the association, and it shocked fans across the league. After that game, Doncic scored 50+ once again, in a game that Greg Popovic aimed to hold him under 50 points in. Doncic has managed to keep the Mavericks in playoff position as they sit at the four seed in the West. He has proved this season why he’s a generational talent and one of the best scorers we’ve ever seen.
Jayson Tatum – Boston Celtics
Capping off Mbappe’s list is the MVP of the league-leading team, the Boston Celtics. Tatum and Jaylen Brown have led the Celtics to a 29-12 record through 41 games. Despite a rough stretch of games, the Celtics have managed to stay on top of the league in terms of the number of games they won. Tatum’s impressive stats of 30.8 RPG, 8.1 RPG, and 4.2 APG have gotten him MVP consideration. He is currently second in the MVP race, battling with the back-to-back MVP, Nikola Jokic. The three-time All-Star will be looking to go to the NBA finals for the second year in a row, this time taking home the trophy.
