Former NBA point guard Jamaal Tinsley is reported to have accumulated nearly $400,000 in fines over his refusal to shower with teammates after practice and games.
The claims come from a former teammate, Bruno Sundov, who played with Tinsley at the Indiana Pacers two decades ago.
Sundov claims Reggie Miller, a Pacers legend who was a five-time NBA All-Star, forced the organisation to change its rules, after he noticed Tinsley would never shower with his teammates.

The Pacers eventually decided to fine Tinsley each time he skipped the shower.
Speaking to the Podcast Inkubator, Sundov said even the threat of fines made no difference.
“Tinsley wouldn’t shower after practices or games,” he claimed.
“We easily enter or exit the shower, and he would be dressed already exiting the locker room.
“Once, twice, three times… and Reggie Miller says to the team manager, ‘Bring the team rule book, we have to add one change that every player must shower after every training session, especially after every game, otherwise he will be punished’.
“The first fine was $500 (AUD $778), and it would be doubled every other time he didn’t take a shower.”
With the fines doubling, it didn’t take long for the amount to reach eye-watering proportions.
“Guess how much Jamal Tinsley paid in fines for not showering? He paid $250,000 (AUD $389,000) in fines because he did not want to shower after practices.
“It’s like he’s taking a shower at home, he doesn’t want to be naked among everyone.
“We counted at the end, and he paid $250,000 (AUD $389,000) worth of fines for not showering.”
Sundov was something of an NBA journeyman, subsequently traded to Boston, Cleveland and New York, where he finished his career in 2005.
Tinsley apparently sorted his issues with showering, because he stayed at the Pacers until 2008, before moving to Memphis and then Utah, eventually finishing with 4652 points from 547 career games.
