Isabella Lombard Hands Commitment to NCAA Division 1 Providence College

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Isabella Lombard from West Roxbury, Massachusetts has announced her verbal commitment to swim for NCAA Division I Providence College in the fall of 2023.

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim at the D1 level at Providence College!! Thank you to my friends, family, teammates, and coaches who helped me along the way. I could not have done it without you. GO FRIARS!!🖤🤍”

Lombard competes for the Dedham Health Hydra and is a senior at Ursuline Academy. She is a 4-time MIAA Division I (large school) Fall State Champion representing Ursuline, having won her most recent title in the 100 backstroke (58.96) earlier this month. She also won state titles in the 100 back in 2020, 100 breaststroke in 2019, and the 200 medley relay in 2019.

Best Times SCY:

  • 100 backstroke – 58.48
  • 200 backstroke – 2:08.75
  • 50 freestyle – 25.22
  • 100 freestyle – 54.75
  • 200 freestyle – 2:00.20

Lombard will look to make an immediate impact on Providence’s roster when she arrives in the fall of 2023, especially in the backstroke events. This season, her best time in the 100 backstroke would rank 2nd on Providence’s roster, even with the team having already competed at their midseason invite. In addition, her best time in the 200 backstroke would rank 3rd on the roster for the season. Lombard may also find herself as a contributor on Providence’s relays, as her 50 and 100 freestyle times would be fast enough to place her in the top 6 times on the roster.

At the 2022 Big East Championships, Providence’s women finished 7th out of 7 teams, scoring a total of 437. The team did see top-10 finishes in the backstroke events via junior Sally Alrutz, who placed 6th in the 100 back (55.56) and 10th in the 200 back (2:00.74). With her times, Lombard would have qualified for the C-final of the 100 back, while she would have been just off of making the final in the 200 backstroke where it took a 2:03.33 to earn a second swim.

With her commitment, Lombard is set to join Rory Sheridan, Delia Fritz, and Mackenzie Riga in Providence’s class of 2027.
