ESPN Power Rankings — Week 7 · Full Top 25

1
Miami Hurricanes
ACC
↑ Previously No. 2
The Hurricanes had to dig deep to beat rival Florida State in double overtime 43-35. While Miami showed resilience, the Seminoles exposed some cracks in their secondary. QB Bryce Fitzgerald was in and out of the game with a shoulder injury, and safety Zechariah Poyser was ejected early for targeting, complicating coverage. Florida State completed one Hail Mary that was called back by penalty, and another that officials ruled an interception. Miami escapes. But they know they left the door open. Shop Miami Hurricanes
2
BYU Cougars
Big 12
↑ Previously No. 7
Despite being a double-digit home underdog, the Cougars outplayed Notre Dame for most of the night with a 10-play, 55-yard touchdown drive to take the lead with 1:47 to play. QB Bear Bachmeier accounted for four touchdowns. The offensive line didn’t give up a single sack. BYU recorded their second win over an AP top-two opponent — joining the 1990 team that beat No. 1 Miami. At 28-4 since the start of 2024, the Cougars have earned every bit of this attention. Three weeks from the Holy War at Utah. Shop BYU Cougars
3
Ohio State Buckeyes
Big Ten
↑ Previously No. 4
The Buckeyes won 19-15 at Indiana but lost starting QB Julian Sayin to a throwing-shoulder injury in the fourth quarter — he came out of the locker room with his arm in a sling. Coach Ryan Day said Sayin will be out “several weeks,” meaning true freshman Luke Fahey becomes the starter. Ohio State will use their upcoming bye week to reshape the offense around him. Fahey is a 5-foot-11 former three-star recruit with limited game experience but over 7,000 high school passing yards. The CFP path remains intact — barely. Shop Ohio State Buckeyes
4
Georgia Bulldogs
SEC
↓ Previously No. 1
A 27-24 loss to unranked Auburn on a walk-off field goal at home. QB Gunner Stockton threw two interceptions and fumbled in the final minute — the first time he had more than one turnover in a career game. Georgia committed three personal fouls that kept Auburn drives alive. Two defenders collided on Auburn’s touchdown. Stockton ran into his own center on the fumble that set up the winning kick. This is the second consecutive weekend a No. 1 team fell on the final play, unprecedented in AP Poll history. Georgia gets a bye before playing rival Florida in Atlanta. Shop Georgia Bulldogs
5
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
ACC
↓ Previously No. 3
The Irish faltered in their first major test of the season, ultimately undone by red zone failures — they failed to score at the end of each half while BYU scored touchdowns on all four of its possessions. Notre Dame had only four plays of 20 yards or longer. QB CJ Carr made several NFL-level throws but also committed critical mistakes, including a fumble while attempting to spike the ball at the end of the first half. The Irish may need to win out to ensure a playoff spot. Shop Notre Dame Fighting Irish
6
UCLA Bruins
Big Ten
↑ Previously No. 8
UCLA is now the last undefeated team in both the Big Ten and SEC. With Nico Iamaleava out with a lower-body injury, QB Ty Dieffenbach didn’t blink — throwing for 264 yards and completing 22 of 33 against Wisconsin in a 17-7 win. The defense gave up 15 points or fewer for the fourth time this season. This team has won in blowouts, shootouts, and defensive battles. It is clear no one can stop what first-year coach Bob Chesney has built. Shop UCLA Bruins
7
Indiana Hoosiers
Big Ten · Defending Champions
↓ Previously No. 6
The Hoosiers’ 22-game winning streak is over. The loss to Ohio State was uncharacteristic — fumbles, bad penalties, Nick Marsh stepping out of bounds on a potential winning touchdown catch. As Curt Cignetti said afterward, the win was there. Indiana just didn’t take it. They went toe-to-toe with arguably the best team in the country and lost by four. The margin for error is small at the top. This was a hard lesson. Shop Indiana Hoosiers
8
Ole Miss Rebels
SEC
→ Previously No. 9
The Rebels routed Missouri 31-3, holding the Tigers to only 39 rushing yards on 26 attempts. Ole Miss has now given up less than three yards per carry in back-to-back games. RB Kewan Lacy ran for 122 yards on 20 attempts despite a leg injury suffered early in the game. The defense is quietly one of the SEC’s most improved units after being gashed for 302 rushing yards in a loss to Florida earlier this season. Shop Ole Miss Rebels
9
Texas Tech Red Raiders
Big 12
↑ Previously No. 12
A 53-25 rout of Arizona State powered by a dominant first half. Ben Roberts’ pick-six kicked off a 43-10 scoring run that ended the game by halftime. Will Hammond put up 257 total yards. J’Koby Williams rushed for a career-high 165 yards. Points on seven consecutive drives. Texas Tech is one of only six FBS teams still undefeated after this chaotic Week 7. Shop Big 12 Collection
10
Utah Utes
Big 12
→ Previously No. 11
Utah holds the longest active winning streak in the FBS at 12 games, 18 wins in their last 20. They escaped Colorado 27-24 after the Buffaloes scored 24 second-half points but couldn’t complete the comeback. Houston looms as a serious test this week. The Holy War against BYU on Nov. 7 will determine a great deal about where both programs finish the season. Shop Big 12 Collection

24
Arizona Wildcats Previously No. 25 · ↑

25
Missouri Tigers Previously No. 13 · ↓↓
A 31-3 demolition by Ole Miss exposed everything. Jamal Roberts followed back-to-back 200-yard rushing games with only 39 yards on 20 carries. Missouri entered Week 7 as a CFP contender. They exit it questioning their own ceiling. Shop Missouri Tigers
